Washington, March 9 - Romania's President Traian Basescu had a private meeting with President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, in the Oval Office at the White House.
According to the Romanian head of state, during the talks there were addressed topics such as the Black Sea region security and extending democracy and freedom from this region towards the Middle East, as a peace guarantee for the European Union and NATO states.
President Bush said the meeting was excellent, and said President Basescu is a US special friend and ally in Europe.
Also, the US President warmly thanked Romanian head of state for visiting Washington and praised his leadership mostly in the path of fight against corruption and the rule of law.
