On Friday, Sep 23, PM Calin Popescu-Tariceanu (President of the Romanian National Liberal Party) attended the works of the European Liberal Democrat and Reformist (ELDR) party congress in Bratislava, Slovakia.
At the event, PM Tariceanu met ELDR President Werner Hoyer, Graham Watson (the EP Liberal-Democrat group leader), Lord Alderdice (President of Liberal International), and Hans van Baalen (prime vice-president of Liberal International).
The EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said Romania shows significant progress regarding reform commitments with a view to Jan 1st EU entry bid.
Rehn encouraged PM Tariceanu to carry on reforms according to the EU roadmap and the recent EC letter sent to the Romanian Gov’t.
While in Bratislava (at the ELDR congress), Olli Rehn and Calin Popescu-Tariceanu together had an over two hour working lunch.
Today, the ELDR congress has elected Calin Popescu-Tariceanu as prime vice-president of the Liberal International.
