Yesterday, during a ceremony at Cotroceni Palace, President Traian Basescu expressed his admiration for the 16 generals members of ‘Mihai Viteazul Order’ (‘Michael the Brave Order’).
HRH Michael I (former King of Romania) and HSH Prince Radu of Hohenzollern-Veringen also attended the event.
Starting with 1916 and until the end of the WWII a number of 1672 “most prominent war heroes” among Romanian military forces were awarded the Order, Basescu said.
Moreover, the Romanian Commander in Chief, Traian Basescu paid his deepest respects to the memory of King Ferdinand, who, back in 1916, established the ‘Michael the Brave Order’ – an Order meant for the “bravest men of the Romanian nation.”
In a sign of gratitude, the army veterans offered the President a booklet reading "Motherland, Honor, Sacrifice."
The event took place in the eve of St. Michael’s day, Nov 8.
