Romania: Home Affairs Ministry implemented a state of the art AFIS (Jul 26, 2007)

Today, Romania’s Home Affairs Ministry put in place an Automated Fingerprint Information System (AFIS).

The AFIS is part of the country’s EU accession process’ requirements. The system would be operated by the border police and the immigration directorate.

The Automated Fingerprint Information System launched today will enable to store fingerprints from some 6 million persons and complex fingerprints and palmar prints of 500,000 suspects.
